Challenge
For this personal project, I redesigned the Hattrick landing page to improve user experience for new and returning visitors while optimizing for conversions. As it was not a client project, I had limited options for direct user engagement. Issues I aimed to address included:
- Overwhelming navigation and unclear hierarchy.
- Lack of clarity around the game's purpose.
- CTAs (Call to Action) not being inviting or clear.
- Overloaded content that was hard to digest.
Design Goals
- Simplify navigation and improve accessibility of key actions.
- Clarify the brand message to make the game more approachable.
- Improve the visual hierarchy and guide users through the page.
- Optimize the page to increase conversions.
Design Process
-
Navigation & Layout
Reorganized the page with clear sections and headings. Moved sign-up and log-in buttons to expected locations for better accessibility. -
Streamlined Content
Reworked the “What is Hattrick?” section with visuals and concise bullet points. Reduced complex statistics to focus on key highlights. -
Clearer CTAs
Added a strong, inviting headline with a clear CTA to encourage sign-ups, as well as a testimonial carousel to increase trust. -
Mobile App Promotion
Placed the app download section higher up the page for greater visibility, based on user research suggesting its importance. -
Simplified Footer
Separated the footer for a cleaner, more organized look, making it easier for users to identify the bottom of the page.
Conclusion
This personal project allowed me to address key usability issues and create a more engaging, user-friendly experience.
